According to THE legend, tea was first discovered by the Chinese emperor and inventor Shennong in 2737 BC.
It is said that the emperor liked his drinking water boiled, so it would be clean, and that is what his servants did. During a trip to a far region, he stopped together with his army to rest. A servant began boiling water for him, and suddenly a dead leaf from a wild tea bush fell into the water. It turned a brownish color, but it was unnoticed and presented to the emperor anyway. The emperor drank it and found it surprisingly refreshing, and cha (tea) was born.
During almost 5000 years the popularity of this beverage has fastly increased, bringing it nowadays to become the second one mostly drank worldwide. With the entry of the Tea, not only the world OF BEVERAGES has been changing. This PLANT got the power to change religions, through the introduction of new rithuals, like it happened in Japan. Furthermore the world of art and economics also changed. During this silent but visible revolution, society also stepped towards different scenarios, disparate cultural and economical environments.
AS CONSEQUENCE, places dedicated to the taste and relaxATION SLOWLY CHANGED. Nowadays relaxing environments stepped pretty much from outside to inside spaces, bringing people to discover new dimensions for pleasure and different type of activities. In this project I wanted to relate this beverage to inDOOR spaces FOR REST: sofas, baths, desKS are the environments that shaped this serie of cups. Practically, THIS SET IS AN insTrument of interaction between a tea and new conditions OF DRINKING.
